A fundamental feature of a horror film is the fear, which is realized on the screen by plot twists, scaring events, images, etc. The scaring effect is realized in the midst of some fantastic events or psychopathological actions, natural disasters, violence, especially when human entrails and blood are visible, etc. A good horror movie is a poetic image of fear. But like any genre, the horror movie genre didn’t avoid a mass production of low quality films, where the poetic image is lost in the banality of the plot and trite events.

As many other genres of cinema the classic horror movie is a picture of the struggle between good and evil, realized as an opposition “butcher –victim”, where the butcher can be personified by a monster or another otherworldly force, nature element, a human with deviation (mad, psychopaths, freaks, killers, etc.). But in horror films it’s not always good that wins.
